If you’re the one searching, pull off this pack, open the front avie pocket, and quickly remove your shovel and probe. The Anarchist Pack with Avalung is available in a 32L size for half-day tours and a 42L size when you’re in the backcountry from sun up to sun down.

Sweet Backcountry Pack
I got this pack for this season.. Hopefully I’ll slay more pow this season than any before. This may be the best designed backcountry pack I’ve seen. The access pouch in the back securely stows my shovel, probes, and pinflags for quick access. The pack has an integrated hydration system with a zippered sleeve to store the bite valve on the shoulder strap which is also key. When not in use it is concealed. The pack is obviously designed by folks who spend winter outdoors slaying rather than in a Lab trying to figure out what we need in a touring pack. The icing on the cake is the integrated Avalung. In my opinion, if you have a transceiver on you should have an Avalung as well. I will recommend this pack to everyone I tour with!!

avalung pack
i would agree with everything the other review states but i just wont to add the only downfall i have found with this pack. the intake manifold for the avalung sits right on my shoulder bone! after a few hours with it on with a full and heavy pack it does begin to hurt but with that said it just might be that i don’t have it set properly and i also have a separated shoulder that didn’t heel properly! i will say this pack by far is the best i have ever owned and i recommend it to everyone that takes their backcountry adventures to the next level! if ur searching for a do everything pack that is tight on the body and dosen’t move BUY THIS PACK! all my friends that have seen it are buying it!

The Black Diamond Predator Backpack combines low weight, durability, and well-though-out features for big days in the alpine world. Burly 420D SilNylon material endures harsh days in the mountains, while a supportive Y-rod suspension system helps you carry the technical gear necessary for success. When it’s time to pare down, strip the Predator Backpack of its suspension and drop its weight from 3lb 12oz to a low 2lb 6oz (40L size). PickPocket ice tool holders, a large crampon pouch, and a stowable helmet flap allow easy access to gear no matter how frozen your hands are. Back-panel access allows you get to your buried headlamp without unloading the entire bag. This Black Diamond pack is available in a 40L size for long day trips and a 50L size for lightweight overnight stays in the snowy world of the high mountains.

Excellent backpack
Excellent backpack for ice treks. Very convenient external crampons pocket, another pocket for the helmet. Easy way to attach 2 ice axes. Easy access to the inside of the backpack from the back of it (zip). Highly recommended.

The amazingly versatile Black Diamond Skylight 3-Person 3-Season Tent is equally at home in pouring west coast rain or sweltering desert heat. This tent so impressed the editors at Outside Magazine that they gave it the 2006 Gear of the Year Award. When the weather assures a tent-bound day, the EPIC canopy fabric fights off the water and provides excellent breathability. Stash your packs under the vestibule to keep them dry while you play cards inside. When the weather is so hot that you’re afraid of melting, pull back the attached fly to expose the mesh half canopy of the Black Diamond Skylight Tent. This ability to drastically adjust ventilation makes the Skylight and excellent choice for nearly any weather short of winter storms.

Black Diamond Skylight
It will fit "three people" if you are "little (very little) people." I quantify it a two person only, with not much room for gear. Defiantly a fussy setup. I was very conservative seam sealing the tent according to specs, so don’t forget to buy another tube as you will need it if you follow BD application instructions. Added cost to an already expensive tent. Stitching on the outside fly is hanging out in 1/16in loops in places. Suspect the Silnet should cure that. God hates a coward, I’ll give it a try - haven’t even been out with it yet (waiting for more Silnet via mail order) So far, I m not impressed.

Great tent, still some condensation
My son and I used this tent on a 12-day Philmont, NM backpacking trip. The quality of materials and construction of the tent were very good. During 5 days of rain, not a drop of water came into the tent. The only negative was that on nights when temperatures dropped 40F plus degrees, there was condensation on the inside of the tent. It was much less than other tents in our crew (just dew, no dripping), however in articles I had previously read about this tent, others claimed there was no condensation at all. The tent stakes are the best I have ever used. Overall, very good equipment.

Good tent
No way you can fit 3 people in this. Two is OK. I’m glad I set the tent up in the yard first, it was a little tricky, but after the first time it was OK. The skylight is nice to have.

You guys are all Crazy!!
Let me tell you about the best tent EVER!!! I knew going in this tent would be amazing. The first set up is tricky because you set it up from the inside. It s Weird at first because most tents poles are on the outside. Once I figured it out it is a snap though. It took me three minutes the second time. The water proofing takes time. But so does every other tent when you do waterproof the seams. I used this baby in Zion s. It was perfect for starry nights, and then on many beaches in San Diego. It was amazing for the fog rolling in the early mornings. No dew got in. I couldn t believe it. This is expensive. The best over priced product I ever bought. Translation: IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY! And it packs light for backpacking. LOVE IT. It actually makes you want to sleep outside!

Sun and Rain
All features blended this is a very versatile piece of gear. Yes it is a three person tent, but only if all three of you are packing in a true ultra light manner. Climbers and most campers will use this as a two person tent. I forgot to seam seal the tent before I went out and we spent the first 10 hours inside the tent being pummeled by the big black clouds we saw rolling in when we were setting up our camp. Fortunately the materials were up to their claim and we had relatively little condensation (most likely it was our own fault for not venting properly) and the only leaks came from the seams on the guy line flaps(which were hanging loose). It took me a few rounds to figure out how to set up the tent, but once I read the instructions I cut my time in half. the process is somewhat time consuming but you are inside the tent the whole time, so if the elements are an issue you have coverage. Vestibule was a spacious and creative design with good vent options. The drafting in the tent works excellent (even in the rain). Thank you Black Diamond for a terrific lightweight tent that is tough.

The sky will split open, bathing you in brilliant light, and you’ll go ARG! and pull your sunglasses out of your Black Diamond Revelation Backpack. The Revelation gives you plenty of space for your backcountry gear, and even keeps your shovel and probe stowed separately in their own quick access pockets, revelatory, isn’t it The Revelation’s modified panel-loader design lets you jam all your stuff in and still have quick access when you need it. It’s hydration compatible and super durable for your long, hard days away from civilization. Whether you’re an alpine climber, backcountry skier, a fastpacker, or for that matter all three, the Revelation will open your eyes. Or, you know, just hold all your stuff.

Black Diamond- Revelation backcountry ski pack
I am pretty impressed with the Revelation pack. I like its top loading simplicity; just a zipper that goes all the way across. Also, the pocket for the shovel and probes is really handy. It has all the room you need for a day of backcountry skiing. I haven’t used the hydration pocket, ski loops or helmet attachment yet.

Revelation indeed
I am really impressed with the fit of all the new Black Diamond packs. The Revelation is a great fitting, light alpine 2-3 day pack. The lack of a top lid pouch makes things simple and prevents the temptation of bringing unnecessary items. A few daisy chains or extra rear lash down points would be nice, but again it prevents you from carrying excess weight. If you re looking for a great light, compact carryover style alpine-climbing-ski pack then look no farther.

only for use with skis
I bought this pack to use as a general camping pack rather than for what is recommended, and found that it is so specialized that it cannot easily change roles. The hydration compatibility is highly overrated, period. The pack’s interior (and exterior, for that matter) is centered around storing lots of long thin items rather than anything bulky. Padding and load control are excellent. My one big concern for snow enthusiasts is that the flap over the zipper on the main compartment does not want to cover it well until you’re severely over packed, so there may be a problem with wetness. The three small pockets (2 on the belt and one in the center of back) are almost too small for anything - certainly too small for the things you really want to keep there. The external straps can really only be used for the things shown in picture…good luck making them work for anything else. For snow it’s a 5; for summer it’s a 2.

Too small for some shovels & probes
After I bought this pack, I discovered that my Voile shovel and G3 probe do not fit in the front pocket that is intended for them. My boyfriend has the same pack in the larger size, but my gear does not fit in his pack either. He really likes the pack, but I would caution people to check if your gear will fit before you purchase it.

Versatile!
The Revelation 45L Backpack has all the accoutrements necessary for a good slog in the backcountry. With a sleeping bag and pad, however, you’ll be hard-pressed to fit much else inside. Your stove equipment and (limited) supplies of food and water will top it off, depending on personal preferences/necessities for pad length, bag size, etc. The pack compensates on the outside, allowing you, the backcountry skier/mountaineer, to load skis, crampons, multiple ice tools, and a shovel. For peak baggers, the pack can be used specifically for summit pushes. Take out the frame and leave it at home; it’s not a very large pack, the frame is (quite visibly) flimsy, and removing the frame makes the pack surprisingly compactable. It can then be stuffed into a bigger, burlier approach pack. The pockets on the waist belt are barely large enough to fit your inedible "energy" bars, so they will be better suited to carrying chapstick, whistle, knife, and other small items. Happy hunting.

Black Diamond’s Anarchist Winter Pack is designed for backcountry skiers and snowboarders who live for fresh pow. Its supportive Y-rod suspension system supports your load of avalanche safety gear and extra layers, and moves comfortably with you as your skin up and cruise down. The Anarchist has a dedicated front pocket for avie gear and a stowable, stretch helmet panel for your brain bucket. This Black Diamond pack helps you get the most out of the backcountry, no matter what you ride planks or a sled .

Black Diamond anarchist
Lightweight designed pack to hold just enough gear and enough to make you happy traveling from destinations - The pack holds skis diagonally in two ways, does not offer A-Frame- The pack offers enough room for luggage but I personally do not see it has a ultimate backcountry pack, the waist belt is very simple (no pockets) medium size. I highly dislike how there is a lack of information about this pack though, on the black diamond website and in manuals that are provided, was not planned very well and seems to not be in any spot lights. However! The pack hauls and gets you where you need to go!

Product Reviews

The new Black Diamond Beta Light is an ultra lightweight version of the popular Betamid. Created for the extremely weight conscious, this shelter is 50% more compact than the Betamid and 40% lighter. Weight in at a scant 22 ounces, the Beta Light can be used with the Betamid Floor (BLD0198) or the Beta Bug (BLD0548) to create a versatile, 3-season shelter. Usable floor space of 34.7sq. ft. keeps things roomy and functional. You simply won’t find a lighter shelter.

Betamid light
This is a great shelter if you use Trekking poles. This works for me. The Sil Nylon is a great material and is extremely weather resistant. However, in extremely wet environemnts condensation forms and will drip on you a bit, but it really is nothing when there is a monsoon outside and you are dry inside. It is roomy and light which makes it near perfect. I have sewn bug netting around the bottom and it is well worth the couple of extra ounces. All around it is my favorite backpacking shelter to date and I’ve had it for more than a year. Oh… Silnet is a must for the seams.

The Black Diamond Beta Bug has an enclosed floor and bug netting to provide protection from pesky mosquitoes and other bothersome little critters. The Beta Bug can be used alone or in combination with Black Diamond’s Beta Light (BLD0547) or Betamid (BLD0197). Sets up in a snap with ski or trekking poles (see image). Even monster-sized Amazonian mosquitoes are no match for this shelter.

BetaLight-BetaBugMesh
I bought the Beta Light after seeing someone use a teepee style tent for winter camping. It is incredilbily lite and small, and lots of space. This is more of an A frame though. The BetaBug allows me to have a light weight "tent" when I would carry trekking poles anyway. Still pretty light if I bring the poles just for the tent. I have not used it too much so far, but it lookes to have a solid bathtub floor, and the netting will keep you from touching the tent wall, which might have condensation. A small glitch which Bibler said they plan to fix, is the Bug’s Door opens on the right, and the tarp on the left, when it is staked out. I may get the tarp sewn so I can stake out the other side. You can unstake one of the front corners of the tarp, and roll it back so u get not only a front view, but a large side view as well. Then roll it shut by looping the tie out over the stake, perhaps just before falling asleep. It would be nice if you could stake out the door into an awning so you could leave it open when raining, when there no rain, might be able to add a little fabric a do this.

BetaBug Review
I love my BetaBug. I had the Betamid, which is the perfect tarp for my outdoor adventures…just about 2 pounds! The BetaBug gives the the added protection from nature’s relentless nuisances…mosquitoes, no-see-ums, and other airborne pests. Thanks to the BetaBug I can get a restful nights sleep to tackle the next day’s hike!

An evolution is packs! This one carries like a dream. Big enough for serious alpinists searching for that sprint pack or for the ice climber who is getting after it. Its very breathable and highly water resistant EPIC canopy combines with a SilNylon floor to bring you this roomy tent for a weight of only 5lb 6oz. The Guiding Light tent packs down to 7 x 12in, and sets up in less than a minutes thanks to its single-wall design. Instead of sliding the poles through sleeves or clipping them into mini carabiners, they just set up inside this Black Diamond tent. In extremely bad weather, crawl in and set it up from the inside.

A fine shelter for four
Ultra light and simple, yet total durable and tough as nails. The single wall construction worried me until 4 of us stayed bone dry thru a night of heavy casacde rain. It is the biggest and lightest tent I have ever owned. What a dream! Why didn’t someone build this tent sooner
