The Kelty Tioga External Frame Backpack is built for week-long backpacking trips where breathability and keeping cool are the highest priorities. Why fix something that isn’t broken That’s Kelty’s take on the traditionally-styled Tioga External Frame Pack. Dick Kelty began building external frame packs in 1952, although the production methods have changed, the Tioga’s spirit remains unchanged. The Tioga is large enough to haul enough gear for a full-week in the backcountry and it’s fully adjustable to accommodate a wide range of torso lengths and body types. The Tioga’s cargo space and pocket design make it easy to keep gear organized and readily available for quick access.

Great value
I just got back after 10 days backpacking in the Sierras. This pack was stuffed to the gills. I found it very comfortable, well built and I was grateful for all the side pockets. I was impressed how adjustable the frame is for users of all sizes. The pack is a super value compared to what I would have paid for an internal frame pack.
Awesome Pack
The Tioga 5500 is one great backpack. I purchased it for a walk-in Dall sheep hunt here in Alaska. It carried all my gear and then some. I didn’t get a sheep but did harvest a Caribou and hauled upwards of 100 lbs of meat in my pack with no problems. I would recommend this pack to anyone needing a comfortable roomy pack able to carry heavy loads.
