Hike for your turns while wearing the Osprey Switch 26. Whether you search for powder stashes at the resort’s edge or bust your own trail in the backcountry, Osprey created the Switch 26 with you in mind. A stretch pocket on the top lid holds your helmet, and you can stash your goggles in the internal soft sleeve. Access your shovel and probe from the top and your warm clothes through the full-zip back panel or side zip. Load your skis A-frame or diagonal style, or use Osprey’s StraightJacket compression system to carry your snowboard vertically. The hydration sleeve insulates your water, and Osprey’s SnowShed back panel doesn’t absorb moisture, so your back stays dry after you take a digger in the powder. Hip belt pockets keep a camera and other small items within easy reach.

WOW! Amazing Pack.
Of all the items I’ve purchased this year, this is my favorite. This pack has so many features that I can’t believe any other packs don’t have them. First off, the helmet pocket on top is sick. No more clipping your helmet onto your pack, and having it dangle around hitting stuff, and getting caught on things. Inside the stretchable helmet pocket is a goggle pocket, so your goggles are safe inside your helmet. It’s hydration compatible which is awesome. The pockets on the hip belt are so handy, from anything from a camera, to small snack, to your cell phone. You can carry your skis either diagonally or A-Frame style….. however you prefer. The main compartment is split into two (a wet side and dry side). You can keep your shovel in one side, and not worry about your other things (cloths, blanket, etc) getting wet. It’s AWESOME. Whether you rock day trips in the BC, or just around the resort, This is a great pack. GET ONE!

Compared to an older Dakine Heli pack, which is the most recent pack I’ve been using-this rules. Very user friendly with all the stashes you need. I now consider hydration compatibility a necessity in a pack. I also love the pockets on the waist belt and the soft goggle pocket. The size is also just right as it doesn’t allow me to pack too much crap, just the essentials.
Average Grade
The pack has several great features, however I found it not ready for prime time. My biggest complaint was the external gear straps and snaps are difficult to use for ski mountaineering or technical backcountry skiing. I had to rig extra straps for attaching probe, ice axe, crampons and skis, which made it even more difficult to access this equipment.
Excellent gear!
After having used the Osprey Switch 26 for just a few days, I have to say that I could not be more pleased with this backpack! For me, being more than 6ft tall, I have never carried a backpack this size more fitted to a tall person. And there are plenty of great details as well. This is a "must have" for a skiing person who needs a backpack for 1-day trips. GREAT!
