Product Reviews
For full days of backcountry skiing and snowboarding, pack your gear in The North Face Shuttle 30. This bag can hold everything you’ll need for dawn-to-dusk backcountry tours. An external shovel flap, gear loop, and ice axe loop will hold all your technical essentials and keep them easily accessible. You can also strip down the Shuttle 30 for lightweight travel by removing the single aluminum stay, frame sheet, and padded waist-belt. This versatile pack can carry skis or a snowboard comfortably and has an insulated hydration sleeve in the shoulder strap so your water will still be water when you’re thirsty. *Not Available for Shipment to Canada.
decent pack, but none of the "features" work
At first, this pack looks decent. Hydration compatible, ski/snowboard carry, shovel compatibility. Don’t be fooled. While a well-designed pack for shouldering a heavy load, the diagonal carry doesn’t work for wide skis or when the pack is fully loaded. The "Flytrap" system is junk, too; skis tied to the pack pull away from your back, not towards it. It works a little better for vertical carry, but not much. Also, the hydration-compatibility doesn’t work; it’s nearly impossible to thread a hose through the tiny opening in the pack. If you don’t snowboard, the extra straps are a pain, too. Not worth the money.
