Head up a trail to a summit or trace a river to its final destination with this practical and rugged Haven 2 Tent from Mountain Hard Wear. Even when fully loaded with all features, the Haven 2 Ten weighs less than six pounds because of a new Atlas pole system. Recently Mountain Hard Wear adopted tent engineer Frank Tehan’s Atlas Poles to enhance the structural durability without maxing out your pack weight. Atlas poles have a cold forged aluminum connector with roughly 28 to 50% thicker pole joints than other tent pole inserts–and that’s where most tent poles break. The lightweight floating tent pole connectors in these Atlas Scandium SL poles create a smooth and even flex that can’t be matched by conventional tent designs. The Haven 2 offers 32.5 square feet of internal space with two small vestibules for your climbing gear and backpacking boots. Welded door zipper and guy clip anchors increase the overall integrity without adding the weight and potential seepage found in traditional stitching. If you’re looking for a two-person tent that’s lightweight, but you don’t want a minimalist tent that blows over in a moderate breeze, the Mountain Hard Wear Haven 2 is a practical choice through three seasons of the year.

Product Reviews

  • Awesome - I just purchased this tent because it seems to be the best of all worlds. I also looked at the Hubba Hubba and a few others but chose this one. We slept in the woods in about 15-25 mph wind and temperatures in 30’s Inside my new WM bag my girlfriend and I were toasty and comfortable. The two of us 5′7 and 6′ respectively fit perfect and had plenty of room to move around stow gear in the corners etc. We were amazed at the roomyness of the tent once we crawled in. Great tent extremely light Easy set up. Hopefully I can give a more thorough review when I have experienced more conditions.
  • It’s the details stupid… - I love the details in this tent. I spent 5 days in it am impressed with it’s weight design and packability. The fit is a little tight with two people but it is fine if you are romanticaly involved :) Everything is adjustable from the fly to the windows to tie downs. This tent has the best head room of a light wight two person tent that I tried. I’m hoping Backpacker will do a review of it soon.
  • Haven 2 the bomb - I just bought the Haven 2 and I love it. I have like 8-9 tents ranging from single ultralight to a 5 man car camper tent. I think this is probably the best tent I have owned. I was looking at MSR Hubba Hubba REI Half Dome and Quarter Dome but I am over 6′ 3″ and so are my buddies so I went with this one. One side does curve in if you look at the floor plan but at the curve point it is still as wide as the others I looked at thus giving you more space in the corners for gear or long arms while sleeping. Plus the nice thing is that this tent is still 7 ozs. lighter than the REI Half Dome. Good design lightweight if you can cough up the $$$ it is worth it.
