Tent Buying Tips
It's important to do research into what kind of tent you need, not just buy the cheapest. Where are you going to be using the tent? How many people are going to sleep in it? These are all things to think about. I have a few different tents, one for each season and how I am getting it to the site (on my back in or in the jeep).

Here are some things to think about when buying a new tent.
1) How many people fit in it? Now I am a big (tall) guy and mostly likely need to sleep diagonally in most tents, which means a 2 person tent won't do if I have a roommate for the evening. Also, is it necessary to keep your gear inside the tent? That will certainly take up atleast 1 persons' worth of space. For winter camping give yourself some more room so you can spread out if you need to take shelter for a few days, this is why I have so many tents, you never know what you'll run into. Only challenge is making sure you pack the RIGHT one.

2) Weight, this is really important to me as I pack my tent on my back, if you are driving in, skip this step. A 5, 4, or even 3lb tent feels like a ton on your back. You can shave off pounds by leaving the footprint, vestibule and pegs at home but don't skimp on the durable materials, rain fly and proper size to be comfortable.

3) Price, compare tent prices on cacsadegear.com. You will want to be realistic about the price of these tents. There is a lot of engineering and materials that go into them. A Blue Light Special that costs you $59.95 will most likely need to be replaced after a few years. The material will break down and the poles will start to wear on the ends & cords. Save enough money so you can by a winter & summer tent.

4) Assembly. Nowadays GOOD tent manufacturers have made it super simple to assemble their tents. The poles just kind of spring together and with the use of clips instead of the ridiculous sleeves (remember trying to snake a pole through those?) they are easier than ever. Another great time to think about where you will be camping, make sure you have long enough stakes!
